Thailand Networking Group (THNG) Camp 2011
Event Date: May 6 – 8, 2011
Venue: Shinawatra University , Pathumthani.

Thailand Networking Group or THNG in abbreviation had been established in 2009 in associated with Thai Network Information Center Foundation (T.H.NIC Foundation) as a great supporter.

In order to achieve its primary target which is “IT for society”, THNG trys to be a space for people to get involved and exchange knowledges as a network with ideas of how to apply new invention of Information Technology on emergency issues that cause life damage particularly, the situations after disaster; flood, typhoon, and earthquake. THNG activities aim to be done both Online and Offline.

The “1st THNG Camp: IT Networking for Disaster Response” was carried out on March 5 – 7, 2010 at Bonanza Khao Yai Resort.

The events had received supports by people from Universities and Social agencies filled up with experts from variety fields. The evaluation questionnaires done by all participants shown successful scores in terms of teamwork and THNG purpose achievement. And participants from 1st camp selected papers presented their willing to come back for 2nd Camp. Thus, the activities has been staring its plan by THNG members to carry on the “2nd THNG Camp: IT for Disaster Response” in the year 2011.

Purpose
1. Distribution knowledge about ad-hoc networks to search and rescue the victims in disaster area.
2. Support primary effective preparation to help disaster victims.
3. Build up laymans into a network of know-how people to help victims.

Benefits
1. Learning how to apply IT for social benefit in emergency cases.
2. Be part of the networking group who drives IT for society.
3. Learning IT by doing IT in practical term at IT workshop.
4. Having opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with various people in this great event.

Application
Any persons aged 18-35 years who finds it interesting can apply.
Preferred Qualifications;
1. Love adventure and new friends.
2. Have social mind.
3. Ready to listen and have courage to express one’s own idea.
4. Feel welcome, if available, to join other workshops or social sector activities after finishing the 2nd as part of THNG 2011 team.

Application procedure
1. Download the application form right here to fill out. Here
2. Write an article on the topic. “IT disaster” with A4-size of paper no longer than 2 pages. (identify the topic as IT for Disaster Response)
3. Send the application and the article by e-mailing to info@thng.in.th within the application period.

Criteria for selected article
1. The scores for understanding of IT.
– The paper reflects the IT linking to disaster issues appropriately.
– The paper reflects awareness in the importance of information technology.
– Logical explanation of the concept.
2. The scores for creative thinking.
– The paper reflects creativity in applying technology to Disaster circumstance.
– The paper reflects an understanding sense of emergency in Disaster situation.
– Logical explanation of the concept.
