The 1st Camp – IT networking for Disaster Response
Thailand Networking Group or THNG in abbreviation had been established in 2009 in associated with Thai Network Information Center Foundation (T.H.NIC Foundation). THNIC Foundation is the initial supporter and one of great sponsor as its main objectives are to support research and development of Thailand Internet society including human resource development in Internet technologies which aims to benefit the country.
In order to achieve its primary target which is “IT for society”, THNG try to be a space for people to get involved and exchange knowledges as a network with ideas of how to apply new invention of Information Technology on emergency issues that cause life damage particularly, the situations after disaster; flood, typhoon, earthquake. THNG activities aim to be done both Online and Offline.
For THNG first camp that would be held on March 2010, the activities would be done with theme “IT Networking for Disaster Response.” As a matter of fact that while natural disaster continue its frequency to cause life and living damage to people on earth and there is no absolute means to avoid them, the ability to cope with this kind of situation should be extremely important and also the development of warning system. THNG 1st Camp would bring selected participants to experience the innovation like DUMBO and rescue Robot that could enable ordinary people to be efficient disaster volunteers. Meanwhile, they will also receive both knowledge and inspiration from real experienced social activist in disaster management field.
